The MCA and the MIC

The Chinese and Indians constitute the second and third largest ethnic groups respectively after the Malays. This position is reflected in the two longest-serving member parties of the ruling coalition; political parties in Malaysia being primarily communal in nature. The Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) and the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) were both formed prior to Independence, and have a long history of furthering the aims of their members and of the nation as a whole.
