Each successive Prime Minister has extended Malaysia's diplomatic reach to engage various countries throughout the world, at times through associations such as the Commonwealth, the OIC and the United Nations, and sometimes through direct diplomatic contact. Notably, Malaysia has often spoken up for Third World and Islamic countries, speaking out against what it perceives to be double standards imposed by developed nations.
