Barisan component parties
In addition to the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) and the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) there are some 11 other parties that make up the Barisan Nasional coalition. The largest of these, in terms of the number of elected representatives returned to the Federal Parliament and State Assemblies, are Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu, Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia, the Sarawak United People's Party, Parti Bersatu Sabah and the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation.
