The Qur'an and the Hadith
The Qur'an is always treated with the utmost respect. Children are first taught the correct manner of handling the Qur'an.
The Qur'an commands the Muslim's highest veneration as the book of complete guidance revealed by Allah to His Prophet and Messenger Muhammad. It is divided into chapters called sura. Muslims believe that the Qur'an is the complete and unaltered word of Allah, which is universally applicable. Thus, the Qur'an is a suitable guide for all mankind till the Day of Judgement. The Hadith are the collected sayings of Prophet Muhammad that supplement and elaborate the teachings of the Qur'an.
