Dissemination of Hinduism
Hiduism is believed to have come to the Malay Archipelago in the 6th century through the trade route of Indian merchants.

Hinduism, as one of the world's great religions, has evolved over a vast period of time—at least 5000 years. Several of its basic elements such as belief in God as the supreme Lord of all beings, popular worship of the Mother Goddess as a great manifestation of divinity, ritual bathing and use of iconographic symbols signifying various aspects of divinity can be seen in artefacts from the archeological sites of Harappa and Mohenjo Daro. These sites in the Indus Valley (today in Pakistan) represent the earliest Hindu civilizations and date from 2500–1500 BCE.
