Rare Taoist handwritten texts brought from China still survive in Malaysia. these manuscripts held at the Seng Ong Temple in Penang, some of them over 100 years old, are only aired and on view once a year.

Both Confucianism and Taoism have a strong influence on the Chinese communities in Malaysia. The social ethics and moral teachings of Confucius are blended with Taoist beliefs.
