Water quality
As Malaysia continues to develop industrially and its urban populations increase, the pressures on the country's water intensifies. More clean water is needed and expected, whilst at the same time more potential sources of pollution are appearing. Domestic sewage, factory discharge, oil spills and soil all contribute to the pollution of Malaysia's rivers and seas, often with dire consequences for wildlife and human health.
