Soil erosion
Soil erosion causes sedimentation in rivers, leading to serious environmental problems which often build up imperceptibly over time.
Soil erosion is a common natural occurrence in Malaysia because of the particular topography, soils and corresponding vegetation that predominate and the extensive rainfall that the country experiences. However, due to rapid land use developments, accelerated soil erosion is becoming a serious problem. Various forms of erosion control have been proposed to develop the land in ways that are sensitive to its geography.
