Shorelines and coasts

Muddy beaches are found along 60 per cent of the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

Malaysia's coastline stretches a lengthy 4800 kilometres. The shoreline, wide open to the uncontrollable forces of nature, has been worn and weathered to produce some of Malaysia's most varied and rapidly changing landforms. Waves, tides and winds from the sea, coupled with sediments brought down to the coast by inland rivers, create sandy and pebbly beaches, mud flats and dramatic cliffs.
