Lake and resevoirs
Large lakes in Malaysia generally have three basic lake zones. Smaller lakes typically lake the profoundal zone.
Malaysia’s inland water bodies include natural lakes, which are generally rich in nutrients and aquatic life, and are often shallow. They are associated with picturesque habitats and have been developed as tourist sites. Man-made reservoirs and lakes started to be created in pre-colonial times, and are more numerous. Reservoir water is used for domestic and industrial consumption and the generation of hydroelectric power.
