Mount Kinabalu: A unique mountain ecosystem

Mount Kinabalu is a protected area within the 753-square-kilometre Kinabalu Park. From the lowland forest to the mountain peaks, the Park is home to a unique array of vegetation and habitat types that together harbour a huge diversity of plant and animal species, some of which are rare or endemic to the area. This makes Kinabalu one of the most important biological sites in Asia.
