Islands of Malaysia
Small islands dot the coastline of Malaysia, some in tightknit clusters, others in solitary form. The exact number of islands is not known, but there are at least 270. Kedah claims to have 110, of which 99 form the Langkawi Island group. Most of the islands are unpopulated, small, remote and support rich marine life. Because of their isolated position, the islands have been fertile ground for tales of magic and mystery.
