El Nino

Large disruptions to the pervading climate occur every few years in the east Pacific. Warm currents appear in the usually cool waters and the normal atmospheric pressures are reversed. This phenomenon of atmosphere and ocean variation is known as the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) system and it is credited as the cause of major climate-related natural disasters. The major droughts and floods experienced throughout the tropics, including Malaysia, have been attributed to ENSO.
