MNI Holdings Berhad is an investment holding company. Formerly known as Timah Langat Berhad, it was incorporated on 18 May 1973 as a public limited company with initial paid up capital of RM10 million. The principal business activity then, was mining.
Its authorised capital was subsequently increased substantially, and on 16 December 1981, MNI Holdings was listed on the Main Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE).
In July 1996, MNI Holdings chartered a bold new direction when it acquired Malaysia National Insurance Berhad. The paid up capital immediately increased from RM10 million to an impressive RM282 million and in 2001, its asset base grew from RM4.3 billion to RM5.5 billion.
Today, MNI Holdings' core business is in providing insurance products and services and the company is classified under the Financial Services Sector on the KLSE, reflecting the change in business direction. MNI Holdings, however, also has interests in the manufacturing and mining sectors.
