THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MALAYSIA, VOLUME 5 : ARCHITECTURE
I have never been interested in architecture. At a glance, I was already telling myself I would not like this book. As I flipped through the pages, I noticed many colourful pictures and interesting columns.
This is Volume 5 of the Encyclopedia Of Malaysia , the largest reference work on Malaysia ever undertaken. This volume has 144 pages and is published by Archipelago Press.
It features a lot of information on the various types of architecture in Malaysia. However, I also noticed that it touches on various aspects of our history such as the colonial legacy in Malacca and our ethnic traditional homes. It also discusses our religious places of worship and their origins but he many historical and beautiful churches of Malaysia have been left out. It also explains Malaysia's rise to modernism, featuring famous landmarks such as Petronas Twin Towers and Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
The authors of the book did a good job in making it informative and appealing. I truly enjoyed reading it. It also made me even prouder of my wonderful country. I would recommend his book to everyone, young and ld, who are interested in knowing more about Malaysia.
