Volumes 12, 13 and 14 of The Encyclopedia of Malaysia series - The Economy, Peoples and Traditions, and Crafts and the Visual Arts - were launched by YB Dato' Sri Effendi Norwawi on behalf of YAB Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud, Chief Minister of Sarawak, on 25 April 2007 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.

The Encyclopedia of Malaysia is the largest Malaysian collaboration in the history of reference publishing. Over 400 authors have contributed to the series of 16 lavishly illustrated volumes. Each thematic volume is divided into over 60 full-colour double-page spreads every one of which is filled with a wealth of fascinating information.
